(As soon as I close it, I need something in there.) iTunes is written by Apple, I presume, but nonetheless, it seems in my memory that it was running when the computer crashed. I can't recall if I'm also running Fusion concurrently, except that I usually am. ![]() When I play iTunes then the whole computer slows to a crawl. ![]() I tried ooVoo and it seemed okay, but it was about a month later, immediately after updating Opera (and ooVoo not running, just installed) that I had the 2nd major crash ģ/ iTunes. I have tried waiting and then using the next version: same problem. Lots of my Mac-using friends run Skype, but it simply closes when I try to log on as a Skype user. (I use these for secure transactions and then erase the history - for the moment I am so spooked that I have switched to Opera for Windows, inside the VM of course.) (These crashes of course take hours to days to sort out, time which I do not have, and for which I moved away from Windows and PCs, only to discover that I still needed Windows for some things. ![]() like a Mac program - and it's not written by Apple Ģ/ my crashes have often occurred just after I updated some other third-party software, like once it was the latest version of Firefox (for Mac) and once it was Opera (for Mac). It seems to be a large program, takes a while to load compared with other Mac software, and then does not quite behave in terms of its menus etc. The rest of my data was fine (and I try to keep as much Windows data on the Mac side for just that reason).ġ/ I run Adobe Photoshop, the Mac version, Elements 6. (I'm up to date with the latest versions of Mac OS X and Windows Vista Home Basic, running under the lastes version of Fusion.) On the last re-install I lost several months of business data because, for some unknown reason, my "VMWAREVM" virtual PC file was missing from Time Machine for about the past 7 weeks - I don't think I will ever know why that was. the problem being that I've owned a MacBook Pro for over a year and had such bad malfunctions that I've had to re-install the Mac OS twice. When talking with Apple help recently they said that no, that couldn't be the problem. I question inter-compatibility between various third-party software providers. it probably gives bad luck) and it has been working ok (recently I had installed there oracle 11g - could it be that the combo vmware vistaoracle11 has some problems?).Īnyway, my question was if anyone has encountered similar problems in the past, or has been using similar combinations? I had used vmware extensively without problems with linux vms this vm in particular that I was using has windows vista (yes, I know. At least, in the 24 hours after a clean install, the only crash was when booting a vm - and there was no crash in the 12 hours following vmware's uninstallation. ![]() After several clean re-installations and very painful experimentation (the computer screen just goes blank and nothing is even written to the logs I have to take note of the time I start the computer to be able to trace what happened before), and a clean installation (tracking down serial numbers is a pain), it seems that my issues are related to VMWare Fusion (this wasn't the first suspect). Hi, in the last 2 weeks I have had this really odd (and very troubling problem) crashing, at seemingly random occasions, of my iMac (model 8,1).
