At this point, I should be equiped with steel tools.Īt about 40h of gaemplay, most of by bases are complete and I light the fires of Hell ( I full 10-12 forges and dance in front of screamers to get raid and tests my defenses)Īt this point, I craft stacks and stacks of ammos and use them, I want to try all armors and all Melee weapons, i wanna try all traps, electricity stuff and so on. Extra perk should be about dealing more damage (like melee damage, which is useless before this point). At this point, I usualy have 1 gun with small ammo (but can't craft them) - I keep the gun for last resorts.Īt about 10h of gameplay, I expect to be able to craft most of the guns and most of ammos (shooting nothing but arrows gets boring.).Īt about 20h of gameplay, I expect to have unlock most recipes and start BUILDING ! (which is the fun part). The 0-3h period should be about basic survival : Finding a home some basic food basic materials, etc.īetween 3h and 5h, I expect to upgrade to iron tools and moderately good food, I should be able to build a forge and upgrade my stone tools to iron. Note: I play since alpha 10 and I usualy play insane difficulty with Vanilla settings. Here's a timelime of what I was used to (and think should be a good target ) : AND THE FIRST PERK GIVE YOU NOTHING GOOD, I have to wait for the 2nd forge perk to get iron tools ? C'MON !? I have no stamina, no life, I cannot craft anything good and I deal no damage because I put ALL my perk to get my forge. There's NOTHING else to do other than stone arrows. You craft stone arrows and you shoot zombies. well there's nothing to do on the 1st 20 h of gameplay. And I think most people will agree, we do not want to play our maps for 400h before unlocking every perk / gun / recipe in the game.īut NOW with this release. I usualy like to play my maps about 40h to 60h, after that, I get bored and I start a new one ! Again, and again. I kind of wish they would go for more of a "14 days to die" approach instead, but I kind of suck at the game. Here's what I don't like about release 17 : There are great ideas, but mostly, it's BORING ! The Exp/skill/perk progression is INSANLY slow. I just don't care for that feature enough anymore. Though its a feature I've gotten tired enough of that I basically remove the 7th day hordes entirely. I just go to some Poi I know will handle it and build some crazy (yet cheap) thing that can outlast them then go about my business. Heh, this is a prime example of why my "base" is never where I fight the 7 day hordes. So yeah when you compare theses two situations it make no sense to me. Originally posted by Frank:when i say to compare a16.4 endgame and a17 early game is to compare the strength of the zombies gamestage gathering etc. I could not go upstair because no stamina and i died. ![]() ![]() Then when they got inside my base i tried to jump on the stairs but now in a17 you can not jump 2 times in a row before falling to 0 stamina. ( no sense )Īnd i made my base with flagstone poles ( 1500 hp cobblestone poles) so i can shot them trough with arrow or sledghammer, but i can only kill a few zombie before they destroy my base entirely. In a17 day 7 gamestage 25 the zombies are powerful they can destroy my base cobblestone level 2 (1500 hp per block) + cobblestone plates on top so they need to trough 3 lines of spikes + 3000hp walls and yes they destroyed 3 lines of spikes and my 3000hp walls in less than 2 minutes. In a16.4 day 240+ gamestage 900 zombies are powerful but they can barely destroy a reinforced concrete wall with spikes in front. ![]() When i say to compare a16.4 endgame and a17 early game is to compare the strength of the zombies gamestage gathering etc. Doubt I'll be able to enjoy full release without mods though. They're moving in the right direction, they just overdo it and have to come back to compensate. Can't see the purpose of needing rarer materials for repairing something that isn't even better *at all*. Not that I see much issue, my stone axe of the same quality as an iron pick dealt literally the same damage to blocks. Like, stop gating the forge so hard, just make it more difficult to get the most out of early on. They really need to stop with this 'forced' progression and consider how to do things such that it comes more naturally as you play. From books to perks, they gate stuff behind various walls to simulate progression. They're adding good ideas, but the implementation of them is very poorly done all things considered. ![]() Problem is, I've played since way back at A5, and much preferred how the game played around A11-A12. A17 is an improvement over both of them, but has its flaws too. But then, I haven't really played A15 that much either.
